Maine Sitar

pbw004.jpg

Welcome to my website.  I am a performer
of Hindustani music using the Sitar, Dilruba,
and Violin.
Many of the works I perform are older Ragas, such as Dhani, Mand, Bhoopal, Yaman, and Darbari.

As a professional musician for over
40 years with 9 musical instruments
in my resume,  I take pride in
providing quality entertainment and
information wherever I perform, all
without any cost to your group.

Please feel free to comment, suggest topics, and to contact me to schedule an appearance.  I do have a few students on sitar, and I am always available for demo's and an introductory lesson using one of my instruments.  I teach in the more traditional method of knowledge transference and ear training using exercises, vocals, and repetition. This allows the student to experiment freely with their rendition of each raga, as well as helping to gain a deeper understanding of Indian music.

In addition to performing and lessons, I am also available to help with sitar setup, string changing, and performing the work to make your instrument sound the best it can.

The Sitar of the forest sounds music;   the sail gathers perfect peace.

This website will focus on the Sitar, the world of Hindustani music and the religion of Hinduism.
In addition, talks about the music of Northern India with demonstrations on the Sitar, Dilruba, and Violin can be scheduled at no charge.  The sitar is a quiet instrument therefore, if the location is larger than a small room, I use condensor or "hot" microphones with a small acoustic sound system that effectively reproduces the subtle micro-tones from the sitar.
